The Project.

What is the Connection Equation?

Connection. Is it a feeling? A state of being? Action to be taken?

While psychologists and researchers don’t know the answers to the questions above, here’s what we do know. Connection is crucial for everyone. And the feeling of connection is just as impactful as loneliness, and neither discriminates.

Here’s what doesn’t matter in people’s need for connection:

  • Income levels
  •  Cultural background
  • IQ
  • Religious affiliation
  • Sexual orientation
  • Education level
  • Family dynamics

Here’s what does:

  • You are a person

The problem is, we don’t have a real understanding of what connection really is.

So I’m here to fix that. I’m heading out to dive deep into this whole connection concept – figuring out how we connect to ourselves, each other, and our environment. I’ll also be exploring how technological advancements help and hinder the process. And more importantly, I’m here to uncover the tangible steps that can be implemented to boost our own levels of connection and eradicate loneliness.

In doing so, not only will we answer the questions above, but we’ll discover more about ourselves and how our interaction with others today has never been more important in living a fulfilled life.

I’m going about this project in the following ways:

  • Reexamine the terminology used
  • Talk to a wide variety of  qualified professionals from doctors to architects
  • Find the outliers who have connection down to an art and figure out what they have that the general population doesn’t
  • Ask a whole lot of people, a whole lot of questions
  • And offer my hands-on experience; I recently moved to a new city in a state I’ve been to once when I was three. I’ll be blogging about my discoveries as I meet new people and seek connections of my own in this new city.

I will be posting my research and findings as I uncover them, here on my blog.

Lastly, why not call it the Loneliness Conundrum? Because I believe in the power of optimistic thinking. There’s already plenty out there on the dangers of loneliness. I say we tackle this from the other end of the spectrum.

Welcome to the Connection Project.
